Sears tractor battery won't hold charge

I separted your post so that it was visible to all.
Sounds like a parasitic load. Assuming the quality of your battery, something in your wiring is drawing it down. With the cables loose from your battery and the switch off, you should have infinte resistance when measured with an ohmeter.
