How Fat Should I Walk My Labrador Puppy.
    Hi

We are soon to take delivery of Chocolate Labrador Puppy and would like to know what is the recommended distance that I should be walking him.

For example after how many weeks should we start walking him and how far and then how soon do we increase the distance and how far??

    Many Thanks,

    Mark.

I would start walking him as soon as he has had all his shots, just slow walks or even just take him to the park and le him amble around on the leash... it's more about socialising at this age than exercise.

Up until he is about 5-6 months old I would only doing slow walks and having play sessions in your backyard.

After 6 months you can increase his activity to slow jogging.

At 1 year of age he is ready to do anything, you can run with him and start doing things like agility trials.

Labs are fairly active dogs so I would suggest doing obedience from a young age, it will keep him both entertained and behaving.

Labs are also very alert dogs. He will need something to occupy his attention from day one. Kong toys are almost indestructible and you can sometimes hide treats inside to keep him interested.
