    I can't remove the leaky spout in my bath tub
    The bath tub spout in my bath tub/shower is leaking profusely.
    When I shut the valve after my shower the diverter lever drops down but the spout continues dripping at the rate of three drops per second.
    I would like to replace the spout but I can't remove it even after reading about it through the site.
    The diverter is located near the wall and underneath it there is a large plastic screw into which you can fit a quarter but it does not loosen.
    I unfortunately cannot find the brand.
    Can you help me someone?

    What makes you think it's the diverter that's causing the leak?

    I don't know for sure it's the diverter??
    Could it be the valve?

    To remove the spout put a pipe wrench on the spout or in the mouth of the spout and turn counter clouckwise. If you have a drip your problem might be washers and or seats.

    You might want to pay mind to ,if it's a plastic spout or a brass spout as well . Some plastic spouts are flanged to the wall first , and then the spout goes on locked by a tab at the bottom near the wall.
