A friend is being subjected to a alcohol screenin per court order to take care of her grandson after her son-law called her an alcoholic. I just read they have hair analysis now that can read results up to a year. ARe these widely accepted tests. I don't want to scare her yet until I find out for sure.

If she has long hair then, yes, this could be a factor in testing. If her hair is short, then no, it would not. Hair grows approx 1/2 inch a month. If she was drinking a year ago and her hair is short, then no, they can't detect it. If she was drinking less than 4 months ago, then yes.
