    Nitrogen cubic feet
    How many cubic feet of nitrogen does it take to fill 1400 feet of 4inch pipe to 440psi

    Is this a trick question? I know that a 4" pipe is not 4" in diameter, so things like schedule 80 or schedule 40 need to be known in order to determine the diameter of the pipe.

    volume = PI*d*L

    Now if they want the volume at atmospheric pressure needed to fill a 4" ID pipe, I might be able to solve that, but as it's written it's unsolveable unless you assume something:

    Volume is volume
    ft^3 is at atmospheric pressure and temperature.

    Lots of things can be done with P1V1=nRT1 and P2V2=nRT2

    when you substitute and assume say constant volume, constant temp or constant pressure
