Nobody here can tell to take things further or not, that is solely your responsibility what you decide.
But it all depends on your age, how long you've been seeing each other, and as Clough said, what do you mean by taking things further.

Truthfully I think even by asking that question here, proves to me that you aren't ready to take things further, and somewhere deep in your mind its telling you that to.

You've got nothing to loose by asking him out. If he says yes, then great! You gain something. If he says no, then you're still in the sme position that you're in now, so you wouldn't have lost anything.

If you're worried about taking this guy out- why not start with group dating? It's a good way to find out if you want to transition into one-on-one dating.

All depends on what you think of him as when he pops up in your head, just a friend or beyond that. If u like the way ya'lls friendship is now keep it that way if u want it to go on then push it on. What ever you want go for it. As long as it makes you happy
