    Hard to handle children
I have a friend who has two children 3 & 5, they do not listen and now the little one is not listening and being mean in daycare. Any suggestions as to how to nip this in the butt.

    Nothing. Not your children.

I will assume you are asking what the parent can do.

As a friend you can do nothing but tell them they need to do something.

At 3 and 5 children are going to be some trouble, But in general, if reason does not work, a small whop to the rear end with your hand has worked for generations.

Once again I will agree with the good Fr. Chuck.

That parent is the parent, not a friend. Children have to learn boundaries, and it is the parent who teaches the boundaries.

I am the parent of a 4 1/2 year old (he is my youngest of 4 kids) when he acts up in school, he sure as heck knows it when he gets home!!

While I don't spank (yes I do believe in spanking, btw) I take privileges away. I make sure he understands what he has done is wrong! He gets the privileges back when he has behaved.

Funny thing you posted today... Cartoons are off limits today, and bedtime is 1/2 hour earlier with no story tonight!! We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Yes ( and I guess we spoil our 5 year old) but we take away TV or computer or video game or ground him from the toy room to his bed room.

And we never spank in anger, no matter what, a time out works good for the parent as much as the child.

But of course any 5 year old will have their good days and their days of pure torture ofr the parent. ( I still try to fugure out how that superball got down the drain)
