    Kitchen sink will not drain
The kitchen sink stopped draining today, we just moved in to this house about a month ago and it worked fine. There is two sinks connected and no dishwasher or garbage disposal. My fionce replaced most of the bottom part after the T since it'd began falling apart. But now it still won't drain and when we began to use a plunger dirt has begun to come back up the pipes! What do we do? It's to late to call a plumber!

    Hi Plucker...

You want to plug one of the sink drains using one of the strainers and then cover that strainer with a rag/towel.

Then you want your fiancé to plunge away at the other sink while you hold the towel down in the other sink.

Here, the PULL up on the plunger is usually more important than the push on the plunger. Yes... the water will get very dark/messy, but that is good as it will get loosened from the side walls of the pipe and... with any luck... down the drain.

Try the plunger trick while covering one of the sinks... let me know how you make out...

If the plunger does work its time to remove the trap and snake into the lateral pipe going into the wall. You will hit a 90 degree bend about 8" in so use a small 1/4" snake.
