I lived at my apartment for THREE years and have never been behind on my rent; however I left my job to start a on-line business with a friend and it fell through and now I'm a month and a half behind. I'll be starting a new job soon and should be expecting some checks in the mail for previous job. He told me to let him know when. How do I communicate giving him chunks at a time until I'm paid up? I never had to do this before. Thanks a bunch for your help.

Give him a written payment proposal specifying how much you'll pay and on what dates. Keep a copy for yourself. If he agrees to it, make sure you stick to it like glue. If he doesn't, let him propose an alternative and negotiate.
