    Whirlpool Dishwasher Flashing Light
Can anybody help me please, my Whirlpool ADP9621 Dishwasher won't start. All I get is the start light flashing. The only thing that does happen is it will go through the cancel sequence if I press and hold the start button, then the wash symbol light flashes. After returning the program selector to off the next time I select a program the start light flashes again. Any help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Keith.

Do you still have the manual for this dishwaser? You may need to look it over real good to see what could cause this.

If there is a tech support number in the manual, Id call it.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Computerized dishwashers have their own set of programs. Unlike old mechanical ones, where, a timer would set in wash, and you could test the terminals on the timer and the motor to determine a problem, a dishwasher computer chip flashing lights could mean any number of things.

I.E. the commercial undercounter and door type dishwasher we service have a long list of specific error codes.

    Check for loose/corroded wires.

I have experience exactly the same problem and was able to fix it by removing and cleaning the water level sensor mounted within the bottom of the water reservoir. You will need to turn the dishwasher over and remove it from underneath. Not really obvious but if you have reasonable technical skills you should be able to work it out.

OK so if the start light starts flashing AFTER the first rinse cycle it is probably caused by the water level sensor being gunked up with fatty residue which is not allowing the microswitch to operate indicating the end of the drain cycle. This causes the pump to run for an excessive amount of time and actually trips the overheat sensor which makes the ARtat light Flash.

Hope this helps. If you need more info please email me on [email protected]

Mickey. This is a very interesting solution. I see this problem all over the postings. I have the same problem and am afraid to have a service man look at it. I do believe that the problem is related to the water supply which causes a thermal delay. Three thermal delays cause the DW to stop and lights to flash . It can be reset but goes through the same cycle. If the float willl move up and down can it be guncked up? Can the float be removed without turning the dw over? [email protected]

I have this problem. First you should inspect if the lock sensor is fine or you should inspect the water sensor if its clean.
My problem was the locking sensor and wd40 worked but its an age problem that will return... think about a new dw machine...

I had a similar problem, the start button was flashing twice, then pausing. I found and cleared the filter for the water inlet, its under the sink so didn't need to remove the dishwasher. The water company had recently redone the mains in our street. This may have contributed. Problem now fixed.
