What condensing furnace product should I buy?
I feel I need to replace my natural gas forced air furnace (Lennox G8) now 35 years young with a condensing furnace. I have 2 quotes from 2 contractors at near the same price... an Armstrong model 95 V 95% 2 stage variable fan (apparently owned by Lennox) and a Frigidaire FG 7... I have combed various forums and sites to try and garner some data on which unit maintenance & repair records are better... or is Carrier a better unit... can you help this Albertan?

I myself sell york. I would chose the armstrong over frigidaire. Main thing is to go buy the reputaion of the people installing, and the warranty of the products.

I can't speak for or against the Frigidaire, having yet to encounter one, but I have seen a lot of Armstrong units in my area. I have had to address issues with condensate leaks on more than half of them. Based on Joshdta's input, the Frigidaire must be really inferior to most other products. The Carrier is certainly a good choice if your budget allows.

Ah yes the condensate leaks, I have seen a few of them myself. I believe they finally got that corrected about a yr ago. The frigidaire that I see around here is a very low cost unit, although they may have a higher end line now, but I have not seen it.

It always brings me joy when I see or hear of a Lennox being replaced with another brand. We took out a Pulse this week and it is sitting in our scrap pile, waiting to be hauled off. I gave it a really hard kick when no one was watching... it was very therapeutic.
