    Post bankruptcy assets
I was forced to file bankruptcy and it was final around a year ago. I gave up my house in the process. I am currently rentling a home from my parents. They would like for me to have the home put in my name for tax purposes. Is it safe yet to do that. How soon can I show assets again? I also really need to get into a newer car soon and should I have a second person on the tile for that too.

You can acquire assets at any time. Of course, if you require credit to do so, then forget it since your bankruptcy is so recent.

If the Discharge has been filed, yes, you can safely put the house in your name.

It's sort of like a door closed on your past financial matters.

As long as it was always their home, if for example, you gave it to them before and they are trying to give it back and it could be proved.

But if it is final you should be OK

I totally misunderstood the question - I think!

Was the house transferred out of OP's name and into his parent's name to avoid losing it in bankruptcy and now the question is whether it is "safe" to deed it back to him?

If so, my answer is - never. In my area Bankruptcy Court keeps an eye open for this type of fraud for a very long time.

And if a single creditor finds out and reports it - big trouble!

Again - I think I misunderstood. Thank you, FrChuck!
