I am going to school to be a LPN and different people tell me that the pay is not that good and I should've just went straight for my RN. What is the average pay rate for an LPN? RN?

The average pay depends on where you live. But I can tell you, as an RN myself, that the LPN pay is considerably lower than that of an RN. I am not going to reveal how much I make per hour, but I can tell you that I make a very comfortable living.
This is just an average. And different areas pay different rates. RN's make about HALF more than LPN'S. For example, if LPN makes $30/hr, the RN makes $60/hr STARTING.
Just an estimate... Don't quote me.
But the good news is that you can become an RN with Associates in about 1 year if you are already an LPN. And pass the NCLEX of course. :p
Good Luck!
Our hospital just got rid of long time lpns to have only all Rns--dont go to be a LPN.
The hospital I work for now is only highirng BSN nurses. No LPNs.
