I don't think my furnace isn't distributing heat evenly. I took a look at my furnace today and noticed the registers in the basement were not receiving heat to warm the basement. The vents in the basement are the closes to the furnace so, I would think they should have no problems getting/receiving any hot air. I'm guessing air is being blocked/redirected to other parts of the house but I'm not sure how this is being done. Any suggestions on how I can check if heat is being redirected to other parts of my house?


What's wrong:
1) Hardly any heat is being blow out of the vents in the basement.

What I checked:
1) I replaced the filter last week.
2) Checked the furnace and the gas is burning blue with hints of yellow.
3) Other vents upstairs is receiving heat but air pressure still seems low.

My furnace is a TempStar furnace.

Open the door and remove that new filter. Tell us if the flow returns to normal. While the door is open and no filter in place shine a flashlight around in the plenum and check for any materials that may have blown loose.

Additionally, does the blower appear to be running at normal speed, or is it slower than usual? Perhaps the motor is failing... if it is too hot to touch, something is amiss.

It may be as simple as dampers closed on those runs. Check that first.

I removed the filter and the flow was the same. I took a flashlihght and looked around the plenum and everything looked okay. No Materials seemed to be out of place.

Not sure I can really determine if the blower is running at normal speed. The blower Sounds fine, and it's not over heatting.

Does the system also have a/c? If so, and if possible, inspect the entering air side of the indoor coil for blockage.
