    Inequalities
    I need help for this question
    Matt & matilda want to buy a set of dvd's from their TV show. Matt has $47 less than the purchase price, and matilda has $2 less then the purchase price. If they combine their money together, they still don't have enough to buy the dvd. What's the cost of this dvd and what's the inequality

    You can start by writing down three equations that the question implies.
    An equation relating matt's money and the dvd price
    An equation relating matilda's money and the dvd price
    An inequality relating matt and matilda's money and the dvd price
    Once you do that, try some substitution and see what happens :)
    If you get that far post your results and ask more questions and we can see where we can take you from there.

    How did you come up with $60? I came up with a PP of $47.01

    Matt is 47 short
    Matilda is 2 short

    If the Purchase Price is 47.01 and Matt has 0.01 and matilda has 45.01, that explains it, doesn't it?

    PP – Matt = 47.01 – 0.01 = 47
    PP – Matilda = 47.01 - 45.01 = 2

    Combined, they have 45.01 + .01 = 45.02, less than the 47.01 PP
