Does anyone now the best way to enclose an 80 gallon water heater to keep the rain off but still have access to it? It will be sitting on a concrete slab next to brick wall of the house. Thanks in advance, Tawnya

Sure, it is called "Water Heater Enclosure". You can purchase it in Lowe's and Home Depot. The sell them in different sizes. You will need either 30"x30" or 36"x36" unit. See the pic...

This is an electric water heater from what I recall the first time the question was posted. A disconnect box, GFCI breaker and possibly a sub panel will be needed. I won't be seeing those enclosures in any Illinois HD or Lowe's, we get a bit frosty in the next few months.

Please address Bobs and my concerns. What area do you live in and does it freeze where you line?

South Carolina

But do you have snow and does it freeze?

Snow flurries at the most, occasional night time freezing in the 30's, rarely below 30.

Has this heater been setting outside in the winter months with no freezing problems or is this a new installation?
