    Classify the compounds into electrolytes and nonelectrolytes.
    If my test substances were, HCl,HNO3,NH4OH,NaCl,HC2H3O2,Sucrose,HgCl2,ethanol.

    Electrolytes-->HCl,HNO3,NH4OH,NaCl,HC2H3O2

    Nonelectrolytes-->Sucrose,HgCl2,ethanol

    So if these are correct, Should I write answer of question like this?

    Thank you

    Well, yes you can write them like this. I think using colon will be slightly better ':'

    Pure acetic acid is a very weak electrolyte
    Why do you think HgCl2 is a nonelectrolyte?

    I took experiment today.

    I was confusing that HgCl2 is non or weak elec.

    Do you think HgCl2 is weak elec.?

    Thanks

    HgCl2 is an ionic compound, consisting of Hg^2+ and Cl^-, it's the mercury salt, mercury chloride. It will therefore dissociate upon electrolysis, hence it is an electrolyte.

    okay , thanks.
    so nonelectrolytes is only two, that sucrose and ethanol.

    yeah I took experiment today in that morning
    I did that I put some conductivity thingy in the solution and I saw very little light on HgCl2
    So I was confusing to decide that its elec or non.

    So THanks^^
