John Deere RX75 Riding Mower Ignition
I am having a problem with my John Deere RX75 Riding Mower ignition.

Apparently there are 3 switches that need to be set in order to start the mower:

1: a seat switch (they want you in the seat)
2: the mower deck disengaged (PTO lever)
3: shift lever in neutral position

It is possible that I am missing something here - because the manual also says to step on the brake pedal.

However, when I try to start the mower - it won't start. When I jiggle the shift lever, after awhile I can get it to start. This has been getting worse. Is there someway to "bypass" the neutral switch? And where would I find it?

    Thanks - Dan

    Hi,
Yes, there should be a switch on the pedal. The seat switch is supposed to be "out of play" if brake is pushed and deck is disengaged. Not always, some older machines have some strange harnesses caused by vague liability laws and the legal departments a couple of decades ago.
    Peace,
    Clarke
PS Your neutral switch is on top of the transmission under the seat. It will have a flat connector with two wires. Simply making a connection between the two does it, and neutral switches are nearly nonexistant anymore.
    Peace,
    Clarke
