If there is nothing written, just give him written notice. If he is not out by the specified time, then you can pursue more official remedies.

Change the locks.

You may have to give him a thirty day notice in some states... So I ask what state do you reside in?

If you want to cover your bases, send him a written notice of eviction. Whether it is 72 hours or 30 days. If you need to call the sheriff as your backup, to make sure he moves out at the time specified, please do. Things sure can get ugly. Make sure you do change the locks.
