Hi, I'm about to get our cellar "tanked" but before I do I wanted to put in place the drain needed to deal with the waste from a new toilet that would be incorporated into the cellar after the tanking work. There is a utility room at the moment with a sink and washing machine. This discharges to a drain and takes only this "grey" water. I don't know where thi waste water goes to: either a sewer or soakaway. I'm considering getting dynorod to send a camera down to see if it goes to a sewer. If it does discharge to a sewer then I guess I can change the drain so that it has a sealed top and is able to deal with solids. Its probable only 600mm or so deep.
An alternative would be to lay a new drain to an inpection chamber that does take foul water but the problem with this is that I want to put the toilet under the stairs leading to the cellar and excavating a trench from this to the chamber would mean working in a very confines space, as the stairs reduce the area to work in as I approach the chamber. Also I would have to go through a single skin wall and finally into the chamber. The ground to cover is also paved with york stone to add to the difficulty. I wondered if there was an easy way to excavate and lay the pipe without digging the trench.
Any advice would be welcome!
