How do you teach a two year old to talk ? :)

Doesn't the child repeat what you say and then eventually when you point at an object, know what it's called?

    They are like little parrots.

Have good eye contact with him.

Babble, make nonsense sounds. He will babble back to you.

Say simple words -- go, stop, up, down, etc. and use basic hand signs to show motion.

Wait after you say a word so he can say it back to you.

His doctor should evaluate him for possible physical and mental problems.

Be sure to get his hearing checked.

Please give him time. Children develop language at their own pace. He is a sponge right now. Eventually he will be talking non-stop. He is only 2, don't rush him.

My son was the same way, when he turned three I couldn't find the volume button to turn him off. Now, at 7, he even talks just to hear his own voice. It will happen.
