Hi, I'm looking for the name of a movie I saw around the end of the eighties or the very beginning of the 1990s, the problem is, I remember almost nothing of it and what I do remember is very vauge and might be incorrect, but here goes:
I think there were a bunch of people that were in a maze or a course full of traps and they were trying to pass it or to survive it. I don't know how and why they got there and what is their purpose. I remember that one by one they were killed by the traps in there and that either very few of them survive or none at all.
I remember there was an asian guy, probably japanese or chainese that I opted for. Maybe he was the hero, maybe not, and I think he got killed too. There is only one scene I remeber: One of the people gets killed by a wooden pole that gets launched or pushed at him, it might have been several small wooden spikes though... I think it was the asian guy but I'm not sure. It's possible that that wooden pole stakes him on a wooden door, or maybe I'm confusing that with another film.

I believe the group were separated from each other and not working together.

I would estimate this movie is from the eighties but there is a chance it is a bit older.

The description reminds me of cube although it does not fit your time frame...

Definitely not Cube (1997) , I just watched the trailer on YouTube. The movie I'm looking for is way more Lo-Tech, the traps are relatively old, unlike in Cube. Furthermore, the maze was more... "open", not as confined as in Cube.

It's possible that this wasn't an american or british movie... At the time I did not speak english and could not know what language it was (I only read the subtitles). Might even be a chinese or japanese film even though most chances are that it wasn't...

Nah, It's not that old (1960) and I'm pretty sure it was in color.
Also, it wasn't really an urban environment, it was more open terrain.

There's a newer Thirteen Ghosts... Made in like, the early 2000's... that may be it.

Sorry for bumping after so much time. Just wanted to say that someone in another forum found the movie I was looking for, the name is Gymkata.

There is a non-english version of labyrinth/ pans labyrinth I think it may be spanish could this be it, although I its more of a fantasy movie.
