    Freeze warning light
I'm trying to find a device that is used to warn when the temperature in the house is nearing freezing.
This alarm consists of a red light bulb screwed into a small metal box, apparently containing a thermostat that serves as a switch.
The box is plugged into an electrical outlet and placed in a front or street-side visible window.
(The unit is usually used in a home that is going to be vacant during the winter). If a passerby notices the light is on, they usually know to contact
Someone responsible who can check the house to make certain the heating system is operating properly.

Googling finds nothing for me. I don't know what this device would be called.

I would be careful with the Winter Watchman. If your home looses power ( which is a major cause of freezing... ) the Winter Watchman will not work. Since it primary job is to turn on a light when the temperature drops below the preset temperature. Go with the Freeze Warning Light if your home phone is shut off or you have no phone at all.

If you have phone use a temperature alarm call out device.

I would maybe use a regular Thermostat, It makes and breaks contact, and the digital battery type allow more accurate adjustment, then connect to a dialer(AVD?). It will call your cell and 7 other numbers if needed.
    Sensaphone also makes a unit.
