Been together for about 9 months - long distance relationship initially - he moved up here into an apartment a few months ago after being made redundant. Things were rocky sometimes as I was working but he wasn't (tried really hard). He got accepted into University and started a few weeks ago. I have had a lot of crap at work, and am signed off while waiting for me knee surgery next week. My problem is, I am so jealous - of his work colleagues, fellow students, anyone really lol. I know its unreasonable but I need to stop or I am going to lose him. In all other areas we get along brilliantly. I am in the process of beginning an exciting new job (hopefully Jan), am not too bad looking and think Im a decent person overall... any advice?

Look in relationship jealousy is because of insecurity...
Which is quite normal...
All u need to do is trust your love trust her...

And have a firm believe that she won't leave you anyway...

I think part of the reason is because you're not working so, you have more time to overthink things. Hopefully you will start soon though!

Even though you're not working yet, you should find things to occupy yourself such as hobbies, seeing friends, seeing family, part-time job, etc.

That's hopefully true - am awaiting knee surgery so that's not helping either - haven't ever been a clingy jealous type before but then have always worked full time etc - thank you

Inactivity, and fear, has you jangled, but don't act out on those weird feelings. In time you can overcome them, once you have tackled the surgery, and healing, and employment issues.

Be careful if your taking meds, especially strong pain killers.

I too have dealt with this issue and it is still a small battle every now and then. What I have found that helps is writing it down... If you are jealous of a certain situation, write down the things that support your feelings and then write a list of items that conflict your feelings. More times than not there are more reasons that your fears are not justified when your list shows more reasons NOT to feel jealous or insecure.

Thanks heartonsleev - that makes sense and is definitely something I will try. I had a long talk with him last night and explained my feelings - he said he was beginning to feel ''suffocated'' and that he was finding it really difficult to cope with my accusatory conversations, when he'd done nothing wrong. He did, however, give me a big hug and said we would get through it. I have a job interview this afternoon at 3pm, I really want it as was very unhappy in my previous job - wish me luck - maybe this will be the turning point - thanks again all :)

All the very best for the interview.And since you know you have a jealousy issue,be all the more vigilant about it yourself,so that you don't act on impulse and do something you regret later.

A good way of tackling behaviourial issues is to step away from the situation bothering you and allowing yourself to think rationally.

Good luck with the interview-keep busy and think before you speak when you feel jealous or insecure.

Thank you amicon :0) - in just the short time Ive been on here, the warmth from people in different posts have amazed me - people are so supportive and that's not such a common thing anymore unfortunately! Hopefully now I have this job to look forward to and my surgery next week, different things will be running through my mind - won't have the time to ''overthink'' things!
