Number of Votes to become President
It is possible to get the most popular votes and not become president. Why not join The National Popular Vote movement so we can change this?

The popular vote is not what is used to elect the president, It was done to protect the vote from being controlled by more populated areas so that all states and areas would have a more fair vote. I guess one would have to believe that using the popular vote would be a good idea to do this.

I see this as a discussion question, not a legal question.

Actually the founding fathers didn't trust the general populace so the electoral college was created as a buffer.

And I'll add that part of the problem was the lack of education of the average citizen as well as the possibility that votes would be "bought," which was a common practice.

    Well put, Scott.

I don't think that the electoral college is the problem with elections, I think that a major problem with voting is that even the stupidest people are allowed to vote. I think that there should be conditions for voting such as being able to read and write, grade 12 education, no criminal record and employed.
