    Bad Biting Habit
    Hello all,
Im not sure if this is the right section to be posting this but I am a teen so meh.
Well, Ive had this really bad habit for, I think, now 5 years where I chew and bite on the inside of my lower and top lips, and the sides of my cheeks. I do it very often, and Im not sure what causes me to do so. I've tried to stop once but it didn't work. Im trying to stop again but I need some help. Does anyone know anything I could try? I tried looking on Google but all I got was threads saying a whole bunch of people did it too. I did find something that I will try, chewing lots of gum. But the only problem is, I bite a lot in school, during classes, and all my classes except for one, have a strict no gum policy. Is there anything else that could help me? Thanks~

Braces aren't a way to quite chewing on your cheeks and lip, it's a corrective procedure to straighten your teeth and it's very expensive.

    Terrible inaccurate advice.

This is a nervous disorder that becomes a habit. It's hard to stop but it can be done.

You have to distract yourself from doing it. Chewing gum is not a bad suggestion, but seeing as you obviously have an addictive personality, you could become addicted to chewing gum, giving yourself another habit to break.

When you find yourself chewing try drinking some water, or thinking of something else. Consciously deter yourself from chewing, soon the habit will be gone.

Either that or see a therapist to help you get over this.

    Good luck.
