Replaced the battery on my 2001 Chevy Silverado and the radio locked and I need the code to unlock it.

Is it factory installed? When this happened to me the manufacturer provided info; the second time it was after market and I had to take it to a dealer (who charged me a great deal of money to break the code).

Are any of the sites on-line who sell codes legit?

Not that I found - and the two I checked wanted far more info about me than I wanted to give. My feeling was if I gave them the info they found necessary to reset my radio, etc. they could also obtain keys.

No, I went with the dealer.

To this day I have no idea how my late husband bought a car and managed to have an after market system (including speakers) installed and I never realized it!
