Thank you for looking at my question.
I have a sump pump in the basement and I decided to try to clean the pit. When I drained most of the water I started to poke around to see what kind of bottom there was. That's when I noticed that the bottom seems to be of concrete and so are the walls.
The whole pit is 18 in. across and 24 in deep and seems to be concrete all around. Is this a sump pump pit?
I thought one of the main reasons for a sump pump in the basement was to capture water below the floor so that it can be removed before it puts pressure on the floor? If my hole is lined with concrete, how can any water get into it?
Thank you for your help!
