I'm going to be installing a Gas Heater in my garage. My question is can I run the gas line through the back wall to the outside. Along the back of the house then back in to a supply line in the basement. This would be the most convenient way to do it.

I did exactly what you are suggesting. My line was connected inside then run outside to the garage and bach through the wall. It ran approximately 20 feet @ 3/4 inches reduced to 1/2 at the heater. Just remember to seal the pipe treads with gunk

Hi Rodewarrior...

If you run the pipe outside then be sure to PAINT The pipe with a metal primer to reduce/stop any corrosion at the pipe/joints over time. It is a code requirement that should not be taken lightly as black iron pipe and fittings rust over time... ;)

In addition to the above advices: you can also purchase factory coated pipe ( Scotch Kote pipe). In this case, you only water proof the fittings. Don't forget to install galvanized 2-hole straps about 6' apart. Always pressure test. Good luck with your project ! Milo
