    Wrongful Termination
I have recently been terminated from my employment with a local sports bar. It has been in my opinion a hostlile environment for a few months when I was written up out of the blue for allegedly not doing my job (general manager). The first write up was mostly my alleged incompetence to communicate with my staff in regards to an assistant manager I had who was close friends with me. The owners of the bar held meetings with my staff behind my back where they trashed my assistant and made it look like he was doing a terrible job. They fired my assistant that day without asking me or letting me know about it. (they told me they were firing him, then called him and did it). Since then, that was early August, I have been ignored and singled out by my direct supervisor. There were several requests that he made since then that I did within a very reasonable amount of time, and other things that I did without them asking. The last two weeks I was employeed my boss would only speak to me in very short conversations, and only when necessary. We used to chat several times a day about things other than work. I also noticed my boss and the owners stopping in at odd times to check in on me several times. I was terminated on 10/12 for alleged misuse of company computers (there is no mention of computer use in employee manual), not assisting workers when they are busy (no specific examples given) and general poor attitude (again no specific examples given).

On the termination/write up paper work I was given and signed there is no mention of termination, it just states in the consequenses section "mike's employment with half moon sports grill. He is no permitted on Half Moon Property for a period of 90 days"

I am not sure that I have enough to go after them for wrongful termination, or who to contact if I do.

    Any assistance will be helpful

    Thank you

Most states allow employers to hire people "at-will." If you didn't have a contract, then they are not obligated to keep you around.

You could possibly contact HR for the company but I doubt it will go anywhere.

Personally, I'd take my unemployment and leave it at that.

What worries me is that you signed the paper work for your dismissal. That's basically you agreeing with why they fired you.

I really don't think you have a case. As This said, unless you have a contract they can get rid of you any time they want without even giving a reason.

    Live and learn.

    Good luck.

Did you have an employment contract? If not, you could have been termimated for any reason, real or not.

May not be fair but it's employment at will - as "This" said.
