    Child abandonment
    I have a cousin who is 31 yrs. Of age who has 3 children. She lost custody of her oldest so 6 yrs. For what reasons I am not sure of, she lost her second child to the state 5 yrs ago and just lost her permanitly to adoption in January. Her youngest child is 19 months old and I have had him since last Monday which I know isn't very long but, she has called 2 times and ask of him once. She is hooked on drugs I am not sure of what kind which ever one you shoot up is her choice. She called me Monday and asked me to bring him I refused and last night her front door was kicked in and she got the crap beaten out of her. I am afraid if I take him home something else is going to happen. What do I do?

    I'm not a legal expert, but I'd notify CPS. Obviously she's not a fit mother if 2 of her 3 children have already been taken away from her. I don't think it would be hard to convince them that this child is better off somewhere else.

    Having said that, I don't know how you'd go about it.

    Please check back often, there are many legal experts on this board but they're not always on line. I'm sure someone with legal expertise will be along to answer your question soon.

    As far as I know, in the us you cannot lose your child to adoption. You have to give consent. Any other thoughts on that? (Foster, yes, but adopt?)

    She LOST her to state and state Adopted her out!
    That is not even the issue??

    Lauren, did you read the rules of this site before you started posting?

    The rules clearly state that disagrees can only be given for factually incorrect information. My post is opinion.

    I suggest that you read the rules, they aren't there to take up space, they're there for a reason.

    She lost her to State and state adopted her out!

    You call CPS. And probably the police as well.

    Then you get a lawyer, and follow ALL of the guidelines that CPS gives you, if you want to keep the child yourself.

    Yeah - happens all the time.

    Contact CPS or whatever it is called in your state. Chances are they will let you foster the child.
