I am looking for a diagram that will clearly show me how to wire 6 recessed lights on a single switch.
Also wondering how to steal power from a 3 way switch for a plug.
Need to know where the power source is going to be. Will it be at the switch or in a ceiling J box.
As to your 3-way switch, Is it already being used in a circuit?
Is the receptacle already in use? If it is then, you cold simply convert the receptacle to a split receptacle. This would leave the bottom of the outlet hot all the time and the top could then be controlled by a wall switch.
The power is coming into the switch and then going to the first light... is it simple black to black... white to white after that?
Thanks... much appreciated.
From what it sounds like if the power is coming in through the switch then the white (neutral) should just be in a wire nut then going to the first light. So yes you should be able to do white to white, black to black. And of course a ground. Since they are going to be wired together and controlled by one switch, I would suggest that you have a pig tail going to the connections at the light fixtures so that if one were to go bad, the rest would still work.
And just in case you did use a junction box in the ceiling for some reason, it has to be accessible. So it cannot be behind drywall, plaster, etc.
Asfor the outlet, you can just tie the wire from the outlet in with the wires on the switch and use pig tails to go back onto the screws at the switch. And be sure to hook the black (hot) wire to the brass screws on the receptacle and the white (neutral) to the other. (black to brass, white to bright).
I am new to answering questions on this site. I hope this makes sense!
Is the feed black to gold o white to silver
