    Garnishing my check
I am the former GM of a restaurant. My former employer is trying to hold me financially responsible for some stolen money He has withheld my last paycheck from me, without my written authorization. Is this legal? I read online that he is not legally able to do so. Please assist.

Usually it is true that your check cannot be held for this reason. It really depends on the laws of your state. In most states the wages must be paid and they would have to then collect the amount from you if they could prove it was stolen.

If it is a short till it is generally a cost of doing business and you cannot be held responsible , especially if several employees had access to the same till.

Let me know in which state you work and I will see if I can find the rules for your state.
