    Checking unit with no power.
Im buying a house that had been flooded several years ago. The interior has not been redone. The owner claims the air conditioner still works. Can a HVAC service technician tell if it is likely to work or not with out there being any power to the premises by removing the covers from the outside unit and checking it with no power? The inside part was never touched by the flood. I was just wondering before I hired someone. Thanks

Power need to be on in order to test the equipment. Years ago when we worked in flood areas we had a generator. For an additional charge we would bring the generator along on the inspection and run the equipment.
