I seem to be in similar situation as so many others. Due to job/pay reduction, I was left to do nothing else but allow my credit card payments to faulter. My credit line on this card was $1000, I'm being sued for almost $1800. I'm not denying this is my debt, however, I do not have paid time off from the 4 part time jobs I'm working. I'm just able to make my share of payments for our household requirements as it is. In addition, I have a (so far) non aggressive cancer that will highly likely require surgery. I'm trying so hard to save some funds in order to have enough in the bank for 1-2 months in order to cover possible recovery time. I've only been able to save $100 so far, after many months.
Bad things are happening to good people. I'm college educated, just in a very difficult situation. My question (finally) is simple... what should I say/do in a conversation with the suing attorney? Should I even have one? I can't afford an attorney of my own and that's making me feel like a giant target.
I'm not a youngster, but I'm a hard worker and care more about my family than I could ever say. However, I'm alone on this one. Can anyone advise... ANYTHING?
