Why do you want to take apart the tap? That can't be the reason for no hot water. It has to be something going on with your hot water tank.

I get hot water in 3 bathrooms and the laundry room next to the kitchen.. not the kitchen sink or dishwasher.. water trickles out of sink faucet.

If you have no hot water at the kitchen faucet or dishwasher but have it other places, the blockage is probably at the stop valve underneath the sink. I am assuming that you dishwasher connects at or after the stop valve.

Harold's on to something here! Shut the water off at the house stop and open the hot water faucet to relieve the pressure. Now unscrew the large compression nut from the hot water angle stop,(see image) and pull it clear from the pipe.. Now hold a pan under the open pipe and have someone turn the water back on for a few seconds. You should get a strong stream from the open pipe. If you do then check the seal in the valve for trash and blockage. If you don't get a strong stream click on back and tell me about it. Good luck, Tom
