I have a friend in Ghana who says she has a passport and visa to visit Australia and just needs a plane ticket.She says she paid about $400 for her papers including health check and police check.Does this sound right or is she pulling my leg?

There have been a lot of scams that sound very similar to this. Have you been asked to send any money yet?

I have but I told her to keep saving but she keeps on about wanting to get here A.s.a.p

The only part of this scam is that that is really close to the cost of the visa and passport, ( perhaps slightly cheaper in US dollars )

Then of course you can do a pre-paid ticket where they don't get the money merely go to the airpoint and show their ID to get on the plane.

I bet they would not want to do that.
