I own my house, sole ownership, I have asked my boyfriend, now ex, to leave. He has been living rent free for 1 yr 8 mo. He's claiming "squatters rights". How do I get him to leave.

You have to go through the legal eviction process, which varies state to state. He doesn't have "squatter's rights". But since he's been living there, even though it was rent free, he is still considered a tenant.

There is no such thing as squatter's rights. But living at an address for over a year means he's established residency. With no lease he's a month to month tenant. With no rent agreement you can't evict him for non payment.

So you need to give him notice of termination of residency. You will have to give at least 30 days notice. If he doesn't vacate by the deadline, then you file for an eviction order.
