Is there a way to bypass the remote & use wall switch only?

Yes you can bypass the remotes by disconnecting the white/black supply to the receiver. Then connect the white to the fan's white directly and same for the black. If you have a light kit then balck also goes to the blue. Should not need to do this unless the remote or receiver are bad. Reprograming isn't needed unless someone has moved one of the switches, did they do that. Easiest thing is to move all switches on both remote and receiver to the ON position. Tell us what the issues are

Does the fan have pullchains? If not, you usually cannot bypass the remote.
