I am installing drain pipes for a toilet, how far away from the stud wall should the centre of the flange be? Is it standard or does it change depending on the toilet?

Toilets come 10, 12 and 14". Most common is 12" off the finished wall. I think Tom recommends 12" off stud wall, making it 11 1/2 off finished wall.
Thank you Harold!
Standard is 12 1/2 inches from rough studs to center of flange. Then you order a 12" rough toilet. You can order 10 and 14 rough toilets, but they are only for when you rough in incorrectly. Many more options of toilets to choose from if you just rough in at 12 1/2 from rough wall. This is all assuming you are adding 1/2 inch sheetrock to studs, overall, you want twelve inches from FINISHED wall to center of closet flange. So its very important to take into account what the thickness of finished wall will be. Hope this helps. Lee.
I type way to slow, Harold already answered your question. I know some will suggest 12" from studs, but its better to have 12" from finished wall, as there is a little varience from brand to brand of toilet, and 12" from finished wall will accommodate them all.
Yes it is 1/2 inch drywall and thanks to all.
Ben
I go 12 off the finished because there is a slight wiggle with the tank when someone leans back and I try to avoid denting the wall, it also allows for painting behind the tank.
