    Economical Service Disconnects
I am upgrading my home to a 200 amp service and thought it would be a great idea to install a switch or breaker between my meter and my breaker panel. I have looked around and found these switches very expensive. Most are in the range of $250 to $400. I just want a way to remove all power from my panel so I can safely work inside the panel without ANY risk of shock or shorts. I don't think I need a fused switch, a simple double pole single throw switch would likely suffice. Does anyone know of a economical way to accomplish this?

    Tks
