    How does fan and other related machines work?
    Well! I'm always keen to know the working of the basic electrical devices of our home?Being in 2nd year electrical engineering I'm still confused in the basic working principle of fan.I want an answer which can give me the clear picture of all the processes behind the working of fan?How does it speed varies?

    Ceiling fan, exhaust fan, furnace fan? Not really sure what you are asking here.

    They all operate on slightly different principles.

    One ting is for certain, a rotating magnetic field causes the armature of the fan to rotate.

    See: Three phase motor, Induction motor, PSC motor, ECM motor.

    You wire it up, and then you turn it on. That's how mine work.

    Oh, and some plug in.
