    Should we go back?
So, I've been sick for about a month now. Diagnosed with URI and walking pnumonia. I've been on antibiotics for a week (I procrastinate when it comes to taking MYSELF to the doctor lol)

My daughter is 6, and she has been sick for 2 weeks now. Fever always at least 100. Has made it up to 104. We went to pediatric urgent care last night, they said it was URI and strep.

HOWEVER, they did not know, because I didn't know until this morning, that my aunt, who works in the ICU at the hospital as a nurse, has a patient with CONFIRMED swine flu. And my brother and his son, haven't been tested for swine flu, but the doctors say more then likely because they ruled out all infections and such and they have been sick for about a month as well, and said that if it was regular flu, it MIGHT have run its course by now (not always of course, but they are playing it safe)
My brother and his son are on an antiviral. I guess the antiviral hasn't been widely released yet because of the cost, but there is this one urgent care giving it to sick patients who have been exposed to swine flu.

My question is, should I take her back to urgent care and give them the new info about us being exposed to swine flu?

Of course, let the doctor know about possible exposure to swine flu. Your daughter is in the age group for having a serious case of it, plus her immune system has been compromised by the other problems. A 14 y/o girl in a suburb near me just died of swine flu, so better to be safe than sorry.

Of course you should go back. Now there isn't much they can do, as it is only a flu and has to run it's course, but at least you will know for sure.

Too late for the antiviral. Needs to be administered within 48 hours of onset of symptoms!

Ooh I didn't realise it was too late for the antiviral. Oh well. She has antibiotics, I figure if nothing else, ill have her finish out her augmentin and if she isn't better a few days after she finishes it, ill take her to the doctor rather than urgent care.

    Thanks everyone.

The augmentin isn't going to do anything if it's the swine flu. Augmentin is for bacterial infections and the swine flu is a flu and has to run its course on it's own.

Yeah I know the antibiotic isn't going to help if she has the flu. But the doc in urgent care said she had strep (did a rapid test)

Jennie, never, ever, wait to take your daughter to the doctor. You know that when in doubt, GO. We take our boys probably more than necessary, but better safe than sorry. I hope everything is OK, and it's good to hear from you.

If she is on medcation and if she is not having issues with her breathing I see no reason to take her to urgent care and expose her to the h1n1 or worse. What she needs is time to heal , so do you. Fever is the way a body fights the little bugs that are invading our bodies. If her fever runs higher than 104 or she has difficulty breathing I would take her to the doctor.

Jennie, THIS is the advice I would follow. She is the medical expert.
