Air handler fan fuse blows everyday!
    Hi y'all,

My air handler fan fuse blows everyday, while condenser keeps working.

About a month ago, we replaced our old thermostat with Rite Temp 6022, everything was fine until last Thursday. The fuse blew in the afternoon, hubby replaced the fuse and things were good again, until Friday afternoon, so we have been replacing the fuse everyday since then. The fuse doesn't blow right away, what could be the cause and how can we fix it? Thank you very much in advance for all your help!

It might be a intermittent short circuit in the thermostat wires near the thermostat. Since that is where you worked last to install the new thermostat. A wire could be making temporary contact once in a while. I would inspect the thermostat wiring especially the wiring at the back of the thermostat.

    [Hi HVAC 1000,

Thank you very much for your help! Guess what we found, a dead roach on the air handler control board! Removed it, haven't had any problem yet. Still keep my finger crossed though! Thanks again!

And if you did, people might get the wrong impression, especially if the one finger you were trying to cross happened to be between the index and ring finger, lol.

A dead roach means you have more live roaches in your home somewhere.

Maybe the roach was just playing dead?

Probably a fried roach since it was on the control board. HUM I wonder if we could use control boards as roach traps. It might be the fact that a control board puts out some harmonics which attract roaches. Now if we could determine the frequency of the harmonics we could duplicate it and then sell an electronic roach trap and roack kill machine. There could be a huge market for them since it is a no chemical device.
I guess I am always thinking out of the box again. LOL

Looks like the chinaman beat us to it.
