Sewer smell in bathroom and closet
Hi... I have a problem in my bathroom. We have a sewer smell around the toilet and in our closet. Our closet sits right beside the toilet and they share the same wall. The smell seems to be stronger in the closet. I've cleaned the toilet and put bleach in the tank and bowel and have cleaned the floor around the toilet but nothing seems to be helping. The smell started shortly after my husband replaced the flap inside the tank. I've also noticed that occasionally around the bottom of the toilet leaks slightly and it is not chaulked. Could that be the source of the problem or could it be something else. Please help!!

It is most likely a bad wax ring and could have become distorted when your husband worked on the flapper. The toilet should be unmounted and a new ring installed. The leak and the smell should both go away.
