Carpel tunnel surgery.

I have a surgery set up for Nov. for my right wrist.

The problem has been that the pains are in the elbow area, just below the elbow(tenon).

Will this pain be resolved when the surgery is completed or is this something more than just carpel tunnel?

Anyone have a story about your surgeries that might help me?

Years ago when I was at a keyboard 9 hours a day all day for several years I ended up with carpal tunnel in both wrists. My doctor recommended that I don't use my wrists or type on a keyboard for about a year and the problem would resolve itself. Odd, but about a month or so after telling me that I was laid off and stayed home for almost 1 1/2 years and the problem resolved itself to the point where I was not in agony any longer. Now I get twinges once in awhile if I've been typing for several hours at a time but the pain is not like it was before.

I don't know why you would be operated on for carpal tunnel in your elbow. What were you doing repetative wise that caused this condition in the first place? Was it an injury or was it at work say typing on a keyboard hours on end?

I'd get a second opinion before you have anyone operate on you as once something is cut your arm (or whatever) is never the same and quite honestly the surgery could make you worse or cause other problems.

Try to get a second opinion and try something that is not invasive like surgery. I'm glad I was not operated on. I can live with the minor pain I have now.

In the 1980's I had carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist. The pain would shoot up my arm and down my back. I went to a chiropractor who did an adjustment on my wrist, and the pain and problem were gone!

Have you been to a chiropractor concerning this, please? I have heard though, that if a person waits too long, that even making chiropractic adjustments are ineffective. Don't know if that's true or not.

Yes, please do get at least a second opinion before going ahead with any surgery.

What have I been doing repetitive wise?I roofed for many years,repeat nailing by hand, then with air tools.

The pain is not just in the wrist(which is more of a numb feeling and my hand 'falls asleep') so to speak.

I do a lot of computer time,but not 7-8 hours days,maybe 2-3 hour stints.

I did have a second opinion and then a test for carpel tunnel,which I was found to have.

I am not against the surgery,not after 6 months of this pain and discomfort.

Hey Clough,chiropractor,no,but I did go through 5 weeks of physical therapy with little to no changes in the pain.

Long story short,I am going to have the surgery,I just had an interest in anyone else's ideas on the surgery and length of recovery times being that I am looking at getting one side done then the other as soon as possible.

I won't say no to a chiro,the surgery isn't scedualed till Nov,13th,I have time.. K

I won't say no to a chiro,the surgery isn't scheduled till Nov,13th,I have time.. K

Then, please do check out a chiropractor! Doing so could save you a lot of time! (And, money?) I don't know what your insurance situation is.

Did you know that I've been in the hospital a couple of times since we visited in person?
