Loosening a 4-valver diverter in my shower
My husband has been trying to remove the 4-valve diverter in the shower and it will not budge. Our home is aproximatley 30 years old. It looks like the pipe connecting to the converter is copper. We have sprayed w-d 40 and have given it plenty of time to work. However we CAN NOT get it off. Do you have any suggestions what we need to do before we call a plumber to get if off?
Thank you for your help. ::o

Post a pic of your valve and we will try to help. And please try to explain what you are trying to accomplish(assuming you are removing old shower valve and installing a new one? ). Lee.

    Hi all:

My guess here would be that mikescott is trying to remove the diverter spindle assembly from a 4 handle valve.

If this is the case mikescott I would ask you if you removed all the chrome trim and the chrome sleeve from around the diverter spindle? If you did then all you should need to remove that baby is a set of SHOWER VALVE WRENCHES or a DEEP SOCKET of the correct size. If you didn't then you need to remove the chrome trim plate and the chrome sleeve to access the nut enough to grab on properly.

If I am off on my guess, please post a pic. And explain more in detail as mygirlsdad77 suggested... o.k.?
