    1990 Civic won't crank
Ok I got this honda civic for free. It would turn over before, but make a loud squeak and only turn over very slowly. Then I found out the alternator was totally seized up, so I took the alternator belt off to see if it would start. I turned the key and the starter cranked it over and started it up. I knew I didn't have long to drive it before the battery died, so I took it around the block and came back. A few hours later, I go to turn the key and now it won't turn it over! It just does nothing when I turn the key all the way. I can push start it(5 speed manual) by popping the clutch down the driveway and it drives fine the starter just won't crank. Any ideas on what is wrong? BTW it has a fresh battery so its not a battery problem. Thanks

Disconnect the negative battery cable and check all connections going to the starter and starter solenoid for corrosion. If this does not solve the problem, take the starter solenoid apart and clean the contacts. Should the car still not start properly, use your judgement and replace either the starter or starter solenoid.
