    Confused about visits
I have a question that I keep getting different answers for. If I have sole custody of my son do I have to let the father see him? He never completed the parenting class required for our divorce what can I do about this? He was given visitation but only wants him if he doesn't have plans.will I be violating the order if I don't let him go

If he was given visitation and you refuse to let your son go, then yes, you will be violating the order.

You mentioned him being required to take a parenting class and not completing it though. Does the order say he only gets visitation if he completes it? That would change things.

Yes you would be in violation of a signed order. This was a order from a judge. To change the order or to revise the order this is to be brought before the judge.

If you have sole legal custody, you have fewer obligations to the father. But if you have sole physical custody and share joint legal custody, which is more likely, then you MUST let him see his son.

At first, my sons' father only wanted his kids when he didn't have plans. Post divorce, he really kicked up his heels. But once he found a girlfriend he settled down and stuck to the custody agreement better.

You have to decide if you want to enforce the visitation (for example, if you have your own plans), or if you are happy to keep your son as much as possible. Your ex will probably either get much better when he realizes he's hurting his son, or become much worse, drifting away. About 60% of fathers gradually stop seeing their children. They are somewhat less likely to do this if the children are boys.
