We recently had our bathroom shower re-tiled and we purchased a tall, wired-frame shower caddy for the wall. The contractor told us that he did not know how to affix it to the wall, given that he didn't want to penetrate the DenseShield backing behind the tiles. Is there a way?

For proper installation, you will have to drill into the wall and install the caddy on plastic anchors.

Do this: Use 3/4" or 1" plastic anchors. Before you insert anchor squeeze silicone into the hole until the hole is filled and silicone starts pushing out. Insert anchor. Squeeze more caulk into the anchor. Then, insert screw. Wipe excess silicone with alcohol. Repeat for each hole, as many times as caddy installation requires.

Screws should be chrome, stainless steel, brass or any other metal that will not rust.

Some caddies come with suction cups, but they do not hold too much weight and eventually end up falling down. Some caddies are designed to hang around the shower arm.

Use a spear pointed glass drill bit to drill tiles. They wear out pretty fast but work real well on ceramic tile.

Good point Harold... also, you can hang it the way that screws line up with grout so you avoid drilling into tiles.

Don't know if you'll see this as it's pretty old now, but THANKS! I finally got around to doing what you suggested, and it worked perfectly. It was really pretty easy to drill the tile (stone), and it looks great.
